A little help at the table.

Capture your dominoes, check the tiles, and keep the result while you play.

Domino Lens is preparing for its first public App Store release. This guide describes version 1.4, including the planned optional Pro unlock.

Get a count

  1. Place the dominoes face up with a little space between each tile. Use even lighting and avoid glare.
  2. Hold your iPhone above the tiles so every tile is visible, then capture a photo. You can also choose a photo from your library.
  3. Check that every domino has one outline. Tap a tile to correct either half, remove an extra detection, or add a missed tile.
  4. Review the total, then tap Save count if you want to keep it.

The number is the sum of the visible pips on both halves of the tiles. It does not apply the scoring rules of a particular domino game.

If the total looks wrong

Move closer while keeping all tiles in view, separate touching tiles, and avoid reflections. Try a plain surface that contrasts with your dominoes. Check the selected domino set in settings. A captured photo holds the result so you can review and correct it without a moving camera changing the count.

Recognition is an aid, and every count should be checked. Manual counting and corrections are always available.

Camera and photos

Allow camera access when prompted. If you previously denied access, open iPhone Settings, find Domino Lens, and enable Camera. The photo picker only provides the images you select. Image recognition happens on your iPhone.

Deleting a saved count frees a slot. Pro is planned as a one-time purchase through Apple, with no subscription. Its final price will appear in the app before you confirm a purchase.

Restore Pro

Once Pro is available, open the Guide, open Pro, and tap Restore purchases while signed in to the Apple Account that bought it. Restoring requires an App Store connection and can prompt Apple to verify your account.

A pending purchase may need approval before it unlocks. If you cancel or close the purchase screen, your current count stays in place. After a refund or revoked purchase, existing saved counts remain available to read, rename, and delete.

Saved counts

Saved records contain tile values, dates, optional titles, and tile positions. Photos are not included. Counts stay in the app’s storage on your iPhone; your device backup settings may include that storage. Sharing sends count text to the destination you choose.
